The Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Foundation (ACLF) is proud to announce that Doug Honma-Crane is the winner of this year’s Alumni Achievement Award. Please join us on November 18th at our 17th Community Leaders Program Dinner as we honor Doug and this year’s Community Leaders Program class.

Doug Honma-Crane is a budget analyst for the City of Kirkland and a board member for Asian Pacific Americans for Civic Empowerment. He graduated from ACLF’s Community Leaders Program (CLP) cohort in 2001, then an undergraduate student at the University of Washington. He has remained engaged with ACLF since as a board member, program coordinator, and facilitator at various points in the years since.

ACLF prepared Doug to serve as a board member and president of the Japanese American Citizens League—Seattle Chapter. He also was a co-founder of The Piece where he teamed up with old friends including fellow CLP alumnus Linh Ngo, to restart Camp Odyssey, the program that first inspired Doug towards work in the community’s interest.

Following a brief interlude to Syracuse University for graduate studies, Doug has since built a career in the public sector working in the Office of Rep. Zack Hudgins on high-profile legislation including the Washington State DREAM Act and Breakfast After the Bell before joining the City of Kirkland in late 2016. Recognizing that leadership is a process of lifelong learning, he is also currently part of the Leadership Eastside Class of 2019.

Doug lives in the Juanita neighborhood of Kirkland with his wife Hillary and cat Kali.
