Mark your calendars! Sahngnoksoo members Meejin Richart and Jennifer Seayoung Yim recently traveled to Korea on the Korea Education and Exposure Program. (http://nodutdol.org/index.php/KEEP/)  They met with and were inspired by various organizations in Korea working towards justice and peace.  In this reportback will discuss the impact of President Lee Myung Bak’s neoliberal policies in Korea, current Korean movement work and explore the role of allies in the Korean diaspora.

We hope to see you there!

Donations will support the work of Sahngnoksoo, a Seattle-based grassroots progressive organization of Koreans and Korean Americans creating social change.  A portion of the night’s proceeds will benefit select social justice organizations based in Korea!

More about Sahngnoksoo: Together, we work to build political power for the self-determination and liberation of Koreans of all identities. Together, we create a new path for activism in the Korean and Korean American community. And together, we pave the way for stronger Korean and Korean American participation in the larger social justice movement.

2010 Community Project: WA State Racial Justice Report Card

The WA State Racial Justice Report Card is an objective tool that any community group or individual can use to be informed on racial justice issues at the State level, the communities of color make-up in our state, and how the State Legislature votes in each of these issues’ racial justice bills.  This is achieved by working in coalition with local and/or state organizations whose mission and stakeholders are impacted by bills that fit into our racial justice criteria. CLP 2010 performed research on the effectiveness of the Racial Justice Report card through focus groups,  and collecting input from the coalition members and community leaders.

Attend their presentation to learn about their process, findings, and recommendations for the sustainability of this project!
